A motorhome is two things at once: a vehicle and a living space. Both sides affect what it is worth, which is why a quick glance at mileage alone tells you very little.
What we look at
- Base vehicle. Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter and the rest. Mileage, service history and MOT.
- The habitation side. Damp readings, the state of the washroom, whether the heating and fridge work.
- Layout. Fixed rear bed and garage models are in demand. Six berth with a drop down bed sells well to families.
- Conversion quality if it is a self build, and whether it has been notified as a motor caravan.
Self builds and part-finished conversions
Self builds are worth telling us about properly. A tidy, well wired conversion with a proper habitation door and gas certificate is a very different proposition from a van with a bed frame and a leisure battery in the back.
We also buy part-finished projects. If you started a conversion and life got in the way, say so on the form. It is a common story and not a problem.
Non-runners and MOT failures
A motorhome that will not start is still worth money, and often more than people expect, because the habitation side is untouched. Do not scrap it before you have asked. Tell us what it needs and where it is sitting.
